The pros and cons about cable splitter

If you have more than one television at your home and want them to share the same cable signal, then you badly need a cable spiller, which will connect the two TV sets. Cable splitter is a type of cable, which has at least two ports on one end to split the signal energy equally among the devices, which are connected to it. Each device will get the same amount of energy signal. However, a small amount of the original signal will be lost while splitting the entire signals, so each port will receive a lesser than the supposedly equal percentage of input signal.

There are mainly two types of cable splitters, the cable splitters with transformers and the cable splitters with resistors. The first one has the three and a half dB attenuation in each of its output ports. The cable splitters with transformers generally divide the energy going into the television sets evenly and energy loss is minimal. The latter, the cable splitters with resistors, on the other hand, lose half of the energy coming from the input port, so that the devices will just split the remaining half of the energy equally.

When you will want to buy a cable splitter, which is durable and efficient, you should look the ones which are made of oxygen-free copper wire. Besides that, the cable splitter, which has flexible jackets, heavy-duty connectors as well as corrosion-resistant shields, is the best.
